Class Reflection

In this English 102 Class, I learned many things pertaining to my interests and also to things i simply didn't know. We have read works from many authors from many different styles and genres, even a book or two. Throughout the course, I discovered that I just really do not like poetry, and not simply because I find  it boring, or it doesn't make sense to me half the time, but because I find myself in a position where I can't relate to it, and I'm sure there are poetry works that will but none of the ones we have read in class considering those were the big authors. I learned a fair amount when covering the short stories, not so much about the stories themselves due to it being the fifth time i have read most of them, no exaggeration, but from the story of the authors themselves. When reading the short stories, I could take a test blindfolded I have read them so many times, but while in class, I have learned where these authors grew up, where they went to school, essentially their biography in 20 minutes, and that was enough to finally peak my interests about something that has become very mundane and redundant to me. The same con be said about the Greek theater portion we covered. Most of the new information I have retained was from "A Dolls House" by Ibsen, this is because when doing our analysis of the aspects of the story through the three lenses, I learned about what was going on in Norway at the time Ibsen wrote it. In class I also learned what the story was based on, I never would have guessed that Ibsen wrote "A Dolls House" from events that took place in his life with such uncanny actions performed by Nora. Overall, I enjoyed this class honestly because it was more of a high school refresher for me personally just because I have read most of the major material presented, and I thought it was great to go back at works I have read and try to analyse them from different angles and perspectives I never got to in High School.
